The BandBorderBox is the Border Box and Fiddle Youth Band. Based in Alnwick, the band is open to young musicians from Northumberland and the Borders who like to play traditional music. The basis of the band is the classic combination of fiddle and accordion, although we do include a small number of other instruments such as Northumbrian pipes (with a concert G chanter). We are also very happy to include some rhythm instruments (e.g. bass, drums, piano or guitar).

rEPERTOIREMost of the arrangements we play are designed to accommodate a broad range of abilities. There is also a Seniors group within the band for the more experienced players. The sheet music for the latest versions of the bands sets and tunes we play can be downloaded from this website as pdf files. Go to tunes. |
REHEARSALSOur rehearsals are held in Alnwick Playhouse. We meet every month, usually on the last Sunday of every month. Starting time is usually 2.30pm for 3.00 (That means getting here for 2.30 and being unpacked, tuned, settled in a chair and ready to start at 3.00 prompt). The rehearsal then lasts until 6.30, with the first two hours being for all the players and the last hour for the senior players. To find the Playhouse use the map in the Alnwick Playhouse website. Use the + and - buttons to zoom in or out of the map. |
